Meeting Minutes
The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a meeting on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 8:00 PM at the Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
Members Present: Debbie Aurelia, Martin Blanco, Jennifer Johnston, Donna Mangiafico, Linda Watson
Members Absent: Joe Grasso, Rob Kaiser, Marina Moscovici
Auxiliary Members Present: None
Jennifer Johnston called the meeting to order at 8:10 PM.
Approval of the October 23, November 20, December 9, December 18, and December 23, 2008 minutes were tabled to the January 22, 2008 meeting as a quorum was not reached.
The NCAC members present discussed The Connecticut Film Festival proposal. There was a consensus to proceed with the event. A vote on allocating funds and entering into a formal agreement was tabled until the January 22, 2009 meeting as a quorum was not reached.
Martin Blanco will contact Tom Mahoney to discuss the availability of the Town Hall Theatre and Alexandria Room. He will also contact Tom Carruthers, of The Connecticut Film Festival, to discuss proposed dates. Martin will also discuss the possibility of Tom Carruthers joining the NCAC at the Tuesday, January 20, 2009 7:30 PM meeting of the Newtown Board of Selectmen to discuss town support of the proposed project.
Jennifer Johnston will contact Liz Stocker, the Director of the Newtown Economic Development Commission, to discuss the proposed film festival.
Debbie Aurelia reported that she spoke to Robert Tait, the Director of the Newtown Finance Department, about the procedure for requesting additional funds. He provided her with the information.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009, 7:00 PM in the Old Courtroom at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
